March 2002 Catalog - The Liaden Universe and SRM Publishing
When Del Rey Books brought out CONFLICT OF HONORS, AGENT OF CHANGE and CARPE DIEM by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller in 1988 and 1989, it was the beginning of an epic space adventure that would encompass star systems and generations within the story, and decades and publishers in our world. Despite their wild popularity among readers, all three were out of print within a few years of issue. It wasn't until 1999 that Meisha Merlin brought us back to the Liaden Universe with PLAN B, the novel that follows the first three. A year later they put together PARTNERS IN NECESSITY, an omnibus of all three earlier novels, then in 2001 followed with PILOT'S CHOICE, an omnibus of two never-before-published prequels LOCAL CUSTOM and SCOUT'S PROGRESS. Now this month we are presented with I DARE, the culmination and conclusion of events that have been threading through all of the previous stories. To help celebrate this landmark event, The Stars Our Destination has commisioned a signed bookplate, the art for which is on the outside of the catalog, which will be included with each hardcover or tradepaperback ordered, while supplies last.
